Datamed was developed as a unified medical diagnostics data archive that brings together radiology, laboratory and functional diagnostic results from across Latvia.

Latvia’s healthcare institutions historically managed diagnostic information independently. Hospitals, outpatient clinics and laboratories each used their own systems, leading to fragmentation in data access, storage and exchange. A Trusted Doctor Information System in Latvia

Medius was created to simplify and modernize everyday clinical workflows- long before national e-health systems were introduced. Over time, it has matured into a practical and reliable doctor information system tailored to outpatient and primary care needs.

LIS is a laboratory information system with more than two decades of continuous development. It supports integrations with a wide range of analyzer models and is used broadly across laboratories in Latvia. Military University Hospital Prague

Challenge

The Military University Hospital in Prague needed a secure and lightweight RIS-type workflow for sending diagnostic studies to PACS and reviewing them in a secure web viewer. They also required a way to compare radiologist findings with AI-generated results to evaluate whether AI could support clinical decision-making.

Approach

A compact “Mini-RIS” workflow was implemented to allow military medical staff to upload imaging studies directly into PACS and view them through a web-based viewer. All submitted studies were automatically forwarded to an external AI solution, enabling radiologists to review both human-observed findings and AI-generated insights side by side for verification and assessment.

Impact

The LIS enabled more structured laboratory workflows, reduced manual data handling, improved result traceability, and supported faster and more reliable diagnostic processes across private and public healthcare institutions.

Challenge

Clinics in Kyiv, Ukraine

Between 2006 and 2010, the Medap Laboratory Information System (LIS) was implemented at Eurolab Medical Laboratory, Kyiv Tuberculosis Dispensary No. 1, and NeoLab Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory. The system was configured to support laboratory-specific workflows, analyzer integrations, centralized data management, and adaptation to local operational requirements.
