Datamed
The Leading Medical Data Portal in Latvia
Datamed was developed as a unified medical diagnostics data archive that brings together radiology, laboratory and functional diagnostic results from across Latvia.
Challenge
Latvia’s healthcare institutions historically managed diagnostic information independently. Hospitals, outpatient clinics and laboratories each used their own systems, leading to fragmentation in data access, storage and exchange. As diagnostic volumes increased and cross-institution care became more frequent, there was no unified, reliable way to ensure long-term retention, interoperability, and continuous availability of diagnostic data across the country.
Approach
Originally developed as a central diagnostic imaging archive, Datamed evolved organically into Latvia’s national diagnostics infrastructure as adoption expanded. Today, the platform provides a unified, scalable archive for radiology, laboratory, and functional diagnostics, ensuring compliant long-term storage, interoperability with clinical and e-Health systems, and readiness for AI-enabled diagnostics—supporting institutions of all sizes through a trusted, cloud-enabled architecture.
The platform provides
A single access point for diagnostic data from multiple healthcare institutions.
Secure online access for patients, with the ability to share results with other medical institutions, family doctors or insurers.
A high-performance DICOM PACS solution, deployable either in an institution’s infrastructure or in Datamed’s cloud.
Reliable long-term storage and archiving for medical imaging and diagnostic data.
Access to world-leading radiology AI applications available in the Baltics and Eastern Europe.
Impact. Today, Datamed supports:
More than 100 medical institutions across Latvia.
Over 6 petabytes of diagnostic data.
Approximately 96% of Latvia’s population.
More than 7,000 doctors using the platform.
Fast, convenient and secure access for patients to their diagnostic results.

Our case studies
Visida Solutions has successful partnership experience with public and private companies and organisations from various countries.
Military University Hospital Prague
Challenge
The Military University Hospital in Prague needed a secure and lightweight RIS-type workflow for sending diagnostic studies to PACS and reviewing them in a secure web viewer. They also required a way to compare radiologist findings with AI-generated results to evaluate whether AI could support clinical decision-making.
Approach
A compact “Mini-RIS” workflow was implemented to allow military medical staff to upload imaging studies directly into PACS and view them through a web-based viewer. All submitted studies were automatically forwarded to an external AI solution, enabling radiologists to review both human-observed findings and AI-generated insights side by side for verification and assessment.
Impact
The LIS enabled more structured laboratory workflows, reduced manual data handling, improved result traceability, and supported faster and more reliable diagnostic processes across private and public healthcare institutions.
RAKUS
The Biggest Hospital and Clinics in Latvia
Challenge
As one of Latvia’s largest healthcare institutions, RAKUS faced increasing complexity in managing diagnostic data across radiology, laboratories, and multiple hospital units, while ensuring secure data exchange and national accessibility.
Approach
As one of Latvia’s largest healthcare institutions, RAKUS faced increasing complexity in managing diagnostic data across radiology, laboratories, and multiple hospital units, while ensuring secure data exchange and national accessibility.
Impact
Created a centralised national diagnostic archive, improved access to radiological and laboratory data across healthcare institutions, and strengthened clinical decision-making – positioning RAKUS as a key contributor to Latvia’s digital healthcare ecosystem.
DRS
Radiology Data Exchange and Remote Diagnostics, Daugavpils Regional Hospital, Latvia
A compact version of diagnostic system was developed and adapted specifically for veterinary medicine. The solution was designed to operate fully on a single workstation, providing veterinary professionals with the ability to upload imaging studies, manage cases and review results without the need for large-scale infrastructure.
